Access map data

Introduction

Access map data

This topic will show you how you can access map features and display their information.

We estimate that this will take 2 minutes to complete.

Detailed Explanation

Accessing Map information

Let's have a look at how we can access map data from the enroute map. Access map data will allow you to click on different features and different parts of the map to find out more information regarding that feature or area.

This feature is useful as it highlights the particular area that you want to view making it easier to view in cluttered and busy areas.

Using your right mouse button or double tap with your finger if you have a touchscreen, you will be able to select any part of the map features to look up.

Clicking within the square will give you access to the features within that area.

Interaction 1 Right-click within image.

When you double tap on the feature an orange circle will appear showing you the target area of the result shown in the list. Let's have a look at one of the features.

Interaction 1 Click the COM REIMS CTL list item.

Tapping on the chosen feature will display more information. As we can see it has listed a list of frequencies under the REIMS CTL and also highlighted the area that it corresponds to. Let's have a look at one of the other features.

Interaction 1 Click the AD LFAV/Valenciennes Denain button.

Let's have a look at some detailed information about this particular airport.

Once selected you will be able to see some important information regarding the airport.

The plus sign  will allow you to add the airport to the alternate list. You will only be able to add airports that are in your subscription, if no plus symbol is present then the airport cannot be added and is not in your subscription.

You can see that the aerodrome has been highlighted orange. Let's zoom in and see what happens to our feature list.

You can see that the orange circle has increased in size as we zoomed in. Any new feature that has become visible when we zoomed in will be on the feature list to look at.

Using your fingers/mouse, select this section of the map to bring up new features.

Interaction 1 Double tap/Right-click the image.

The circle has now moved to your new selection. A list of the new features within the circle has popped up.

Let's have a look at the airway feature.

Interaction 1 Click the AWY UL613 list item.

Selecting the airway feature has highlighted the airway in orange. It will highlight the entire length of the airway. In this example airway UL613 will be highlighted from waypoint NURMO to DIPER. The airway will stay highlighted whether you zoom in or out.

When you are done reviewing information about map features at the tapped location, tap anywhere outside of the popup list to close the information panel and the list.
